TraceGolf: Impact Study of a Golf Ball

Study of behavior of material and electronics when submitted to high velocity impact.

Instrumental golf ball which allow to collect information as speed, shoot, angles, and so on. This golf ball is interesting for athletes to have a monitoring of their abilities. Several laboratories from the HEIG-VD have collaborated to the project alongside with the company Trace Technologies SA.

COMATEC studied the behavior of materials when submitted to very high speed. Indeed, the inside electronical components suffer when the ball is shot. This technology is used for golf ball but can also apply to other types of balls. The COMATEC laboratory designed the modelisation of the impact, the dynamical behiavor of the ball, the problems of resistance and the electromagnetic transparency. COMATEC built an engine which throw golf balls.
