The Gen-next Challenge is designed to inspire and engage students from schools, universities, and master’s programmes by giving them the opportunity to tackle real-world problems faced by the sports industry. Developed in collaboration with key industry players, this challenge offers a hands-on learning experience, allowing young innovators to apply their creativity and problem-solving skills to practical, high-impact issues.
The challenge follows a structured format over several months:
- Industry Challenge & Team Formation – A leading organisation presents a real-world problem in sport, inviting student teams to develop innovative solutions.
- Development & Mentorship – With guidance from mentors and industry experts, teams refine their ideas, applying insights from the sector to shape solutions that are both creative and feasible.
- Final Pitch Event – The challenge culminates in a high-profile showcase, where teams present their solutions to key stakeholders in the sports industry, gaining recognition, networking opportunities, and potential pathways to implement their ideas.
By working on actual industry challenges, the Gen-next Challenge bridges the gap between education and the professional sports world, equipping the next generation with the skills and experience needed to drive meaningful change in sport.
